This Privacy Policy describes how ScaleBuilder Technologies ("ScaleBuilder," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use ScaleBuilder (the "App"), available at scalebuilder.io and through the Shopify App Store.

By installing or using ScaleBuilder, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

From You (the Merchant)

  • Account information: name, email address, Shopify store URL
  • Authentication tokens from Shopify and Meta (stored securely, used to access APIs on your behalf)

From Shopify (via Shopify APIs, read-only)

  • Products: product titles, descriptions, images, prices, variants
  • Orders: order history, order values, fulfillment status
  • Customers: customer counts and segments (used for audience sizing — we do not store individual end-customer personal information)

From Meta (via Meta Marketing API)

  • Campaign configuration and status
  • Ad performance metrics (spend, impressions, clicks, conversions, ROAS)
  • Audience insights and demographics
  • Pixel event data
  • Custom audience metadata

From Your Use of Our Website

We may use analytics tools (such as Google Analytics or similar services) to collect usage data including pages visited, time on site, and referral sources. This data is aggregated and not linked to individual merchant accounts.

Cookies

We use essential cookies required for authentication and session management. We may also use analytics cookies to improve our service. You can control cookie preferences through your browser settings.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide and operate ScaleBuilder's core functionality (creating, managing, and optimizing advertising campaigns on Meta platforms)
  • Pull product and order data from Shopify to generate ad creatives and inform campaign targeting
  • Read Meta Ads data to monitor, report on, and optimize campaign performance
  • Communicate with you about your account, campaigns, and service updates
  • Improve and develop new features
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your data to third parties.

3. How We Share Your Information

We share data only as necessary to provide the service:

  • All data is stored on Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure in the United States
  • Authentication tokens are encrypted at rest
  • All data transmission uses HTTPS/TLS encryption
  • Access to production systems is restricted to authorized personnel

5. Data Retention and Deletion

  • We retain your data for as long as your account is active and the app is installed
  • When you uninstall ScaleBuilder from Shopify, we delete your merchant data and revoke stored tokens within 30 days
  • We honor Shopify's GDPR webhooks (data requests, customer redaction, shop redaction)
  • You may request data deletion at any time by contacting us

6. Your Rights

All Users

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Withdraw consent for data processing

European Economic Area (GDPR)

If you are located in the EEA, you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation:

  • Legal basis for processing: We process your data based on contractual necessity (providing the service you requested) and legitimate interest (improving our service).
  • Data transfers: Your data is transferred to and stored in the United States. We rely on Standard Contractual Clauses to ensure adequate protection.

7. End-Customer Data

ScaleBuilder does not store personal information of your customers (the people who buy from your Shopify store). We access aggregated order and customer segment data from Shopify solely to inform ad targeting and campaign performance. No individual end-customer names, emails, or contact information is stored in our systems.

8. Third-Party Links

Our service may contain links to third-party services (Shopify, Meta). This Privacy Policy does not apply to those services. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.

9. Children's Privacy

ScaleBuilder is a business tool intended for use by merchants. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of 16.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or through the app. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
